has anyone connected Macbook air M1 via USB-C to Display Port on external monitor

External monitor remains blank but in Settings --> Display. I see the new monitor..

Many monitors have multiple inputs, and menu controls on the monitor to select among those inputs.

Check that your monitor is set to display the signal from the input that you used to connect it to the computer.

On MAC air - Settings ——>Display I see the laptop monitor and the monitor I connected via the USB-C to the display port on the monitor. After selecting the external monitor, see entries to optimize the display I select this but still don’t see any display on the external monitor. Thoughts?
