The pencil didn’t initially pair with my iPad either—I had to plug it directly into the iPad. It’s been snugly connected to the magnetic strip all day, but I just got an alert that the pencil is at 20% battery. When I connect it to the magnetic strip, there’s no drop down notification that it’s charging.
I tried forgetting the pencil and doing a hard reset, but it didn’t help.

Maybe because the 2nd generation Apple Pencil is not compatible with the new M4 iPads?
