How to recover compromised Mail

My Mail has been hacked. I get emails from my own address. I checked the headers to confirm that. Here's what I think I need to do.

Change the password for Comcast, which is my internet provider. (The last time Idid this I could not get mail through Mail for several days while Comcast people worked on the problem.)
. Set up new email addresses/accounts.
Have Comcast kill the old accounts so they could not be used.
Notify people of my new email address.

Are those the correct steps and am I missing something? Your help would be immensely appreciated. This. is a horrible problem for me.

First, the email that you received is a common scam and your account was not hacked. The scammers simply spoofed the sending email address to be yours to make you think that you have been hacked to scare you to follow the steps that they provide. The same scam has been reported many times.

As for the steps you took to create a new email account, the only thing I would add is if the Comcast email was your Apple ID, then your will also want to change your Apple ID to this new email address.
