Apple Watch Battery Drain after updating to 10.5

I have the Apple Watch Series 8. The battery would last about 3 days prior to the update to 10.5. Now it lasts about 18 hours. I have checked for things that may have changed in the settings causing the drain and I cannot seem to identify any changes. Looking for suggestions on how to fix this issue.

What is required is a forced restart of your Apple Watch. A forced restart is more than just turning your Watch off and on. Observe the battery usage for the next 24 to 72 hours. If there is no improvement you’ll need to unpair the Watch from your iPhone, force restart the Watch and the iPhone and lastly pair the two devices. Battery usage will return to normal in 24 to 72 hours.

The odds are a 3rd party app or complication is stuck syncing or having issues supporting the update. Try the above well known fix and you should be good in a few days.

Yes I charge this every night on the charger it came with. This must be an issue with the update . Watch was great up until 20.5. This is the 3rd time btw that I went through the reset and pairing process. I followed your suggestion by disabling updates and I was hopefull. But alas after about a week the battery drained.

since it happens over a period of time I’m assuming something is polling. However since the watch was normal until updating to 10.5 it’s unlikely a coincidence.

Thanks in advance

I have the same battery draining issues and am constantly needing to charge now, right after th update to 10.5. I have contacted apple support and they are telling me nothing is wrong with my device and they can't do anything to help, but have escalated the issue. Is anyone having better luck with apple support? I don't think it is right for apple to be telling me that this issue is on me when I've had no issues before the update.

I’ve tried everything followed all advice with resetting, unpairing, turned off every thinkable updates, removed apps from the watch, disabled WiFi turned off auto updates, turned off app refresh. My watch is useless within 2 hours. Prior to 10.5 update it would be fine from 6am till about midnight battery typically between 30-50%

i don’t have any under installed apps, however I do have a long list of apps that are available after I removed while trouble shooting this night mare 🤪here’s a screen shot. BTW Jeff, I do appreciate your help. This is frustrating for me as I am a senior system administrator a living. There’s got to be a smoking gun somewhere! I wish there was a better way to isolate this. The battery health app on the watch is underwhelming.
