Please Help! My Macbook pro is acting unusual.

hi there, i have a MacBook pro 2019 16" A2141, and i have noticed a couple of problems emerge over the last 2 years:

1) Whenever the Macbook is running a heavy load (like rendering a video, opening an app etc..) if it is not plugged to the power adapter it works fine, but if it is plugged to the power adapter and even if its at 100% charge, as soon as i remove the power adapter it instantly shuts off and i will have to wait a couple of seconds to be able to turn it on again.

--> not only that, while the MacBook is on a very heavy load (running blender for instance), and if im playing a video or a song (anything with a sound in general) the MacBook speakers start to lower/ increase volume randomly with thudding sound coming out of the speakers! (the volume settings doesn’t change, even if i have volume on max it will lower and

raise the volume randomly with thudding sound )

2) i have noticed that the performance of the GPU is very very mediocre, for comparison i have a 2017 Touch Bar MacBook pro 15", and it outperforms this MacBook by a very huge margin!, i had to ""upgrade"" to this MacBook because of the display problems on the 2016-2017 MacBooks.

3)sometimes when i boot up my MacBook upon inserting my password it tells me that my password is incorrect, (even though i double and triple check for caps, the number of letters etc..) and i end up changing my password.

4) the MacBook itself feels slow and unresponsive lately and im unable to access the apple diagnostics using Command+D, or D i ended up running it on Terminal and i have the report just don’t know how to read it still :>)

5) im unable to reset the SMC (at least thats what i think..), also unable to reset NVRAM even using the Terminal (it gives me an error): Code used: sudo nvram -c

nvram: Error clearing firmware variable fmm-mobileme-token-FMM: (iokit/common) not permitted
nvram: Error clearing firmware variable fmm-mobileme-token-FMM-BridgeHasAccount: (iokit/common) not permitted
nvram: Error clearing firmware variable fmm-computer-name: (iokit/common) not permitted
nvram: Error clearing firmware variable csr-active-config: (iokit/common) not permitted

what i did try to do:

1) changed the battery of my MacBook via an apple certified repair shop.

2) updated the mac os software to the latest software.

3) erased the disc using the recovery mode disk utility and re-installed mac os.

4) ran disc diagnostics on every disc in disc utility.

5) installed cleanmymac x.

the problems mentioned above are still there even though i tried to reset everything.

i hope you help me!, thank you all.

hi thank you for the fast response!, how is reviving/ restoring the MacBook any different from erasing it and reinstalling the mac os?

The DFU firmware Revive resets the T2 security chip & system firmware. The DFU firmware Restore does the same thing, but also erases the internal SSD as well (I'm not sure if the "Restore" does anything else on the Intel T2 Macs).

i tried reseting the SMC as explained in the guidelines i do not believe it is reseting, its turning on.

If the laptop is powered on, then press the Caps Lock key. If the Caps Lock LED lights up or you see video or the Apple logo on the screen, then when you successfully perform the SMC Reset, the Caps Lock or video will go out immediately. The procedure for the SMC Reset has changed for the T2 Macs, so read the instructions carefully.

unable to reset NVRAM even using the Terminal (it gives me an error): Code used: sudo nvram -c

nvram: Error clearing firmware variable fmm-mobileme-token-FMM-BridgeHasAccount: (iokit/common) not permitted
nvram: Error clearing firmware variable fmm-computer-name: (iokit/common) not permitted
nvram: Error clearing firmware variable csr-active-config: (iokit/common) not permitted

You did successfully clear the NVRAM. Some NVRAM variables just cannot be cleared out depending on the system configuration. I know the computer name is one.....the other two listed are probably not an issue either.

If you have an issue after a clean install of macOS without any third party apps installed, without restoring from a backup, and without logging into your AppleID/iCloud, then you have a hardware issue of some sort. Make sure to disconnect all external devices in case one of them is causing a problem.

Also, look for any Kernel Panic logs located within "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReport" for file names beginning with "kernel" or ending in ".panic". Also look in the "Retired" sub folder. Also, check to see if you have any "ProxiedDevice-Bridge" panics within the same name folder (it also has its own "Retired" subfolder). These type of panics especially the latter type usually indicate a hardware issue usually associated with a bad Logic Board which unfortunately is quite common for the MBPro 16" (2019) model. If that is the case, then I highly recommend purchasing a new laptop instead of repairing since many users have mentioned having issues with their replacement Logic Boards as well for this specific model.

You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected. Unfortunately the diagnostics don't usually report errors even when a hardware is known to exist.
