Redownload music files in AAC format ?

I try to transfer my library to the Eversolo streamer DMP-A6. Therefore I need to change my music files from HLS format to AAC format.

But here is the problem: Every time I delete an album from my library and redownload it from iTunes, I end up with HLS files instead of AAC .

This happens despite my settings being on “Download: High Quality (AAC 256 kps)”.

Any solution ?

Many thanks.

Hi,

Firstly you should backup your original files then try removing the duplicate copies. Make sure you delete the HLS format if the other tracks are aiff or wav. Then try adding remaining “Duplicate” tacks beck to iCloud music library. For waiting tracks try updating iCloud music library.

If the track has been matched, the best non DRM format that you will get is 256 Kbps AAC. You will not recover the original lossless version .

Matched tracks are not automatically change but if you opt to remove download you will get HLS or AAC depending on your download settings. Hence the need for a backup.

My other thought is you could have multiple libraries Use multiple libraries in Music on Mac – Apple Support (UK).

Something to consider. I have three separate libraries, first for Apple Music which I use for streaming at best format available for each track, second same music but downloaded as AAC so that I can sync to old iPods and third not connected to iCloud music library but contains mainly lossless versions of my music.

Thank you Jim. I followed your advice and here are some results, which open up new questions for me.

What means “waiting”, “matched” and “duplicate” in the Cloud Status ? How do I solve the “waiting” and “duplicate” problem ?

These are some files I uploaded from CDs I possess. Some stayed in the chosen WAV audio format, some were transformed into HLS files (I bought those before on iTunes and Apple Music ignored my upload, keeping the previous HLS format). How do I get everything into WAV format in order to upload it to my Eversolo streamer ?

Then there are those files where no kind is mentioned. Looking into the finder, those files are in HLS format (despite several attempts to redownload those in AAC format). How do I solve this problem (which was the primary one from the beginning).

Sorry for making it more complicated now. I have been on Apple since the Mac Plus and so far I solved everything myself, but now I am getting older and less efficient apparently...

Many thanks for your help!!!
