Problem with "spelling and grammar" for both TextEdit and Pages

The last update ~Library/Spelling/LocalDictionary shows is 3/6/2024 and today is 5/18/24. This afternoon I found a couple dozen words in that file and there should be a few thousand since I store personal names, psychological, medical, biological, and physics words that are not common.

Interestingly, Spell Check still seems to be functioning! It underlines misspelled and unknown words, allowing me to choose correction or to learn a new word. Does anyone know where those "learned" words are being stored? I know that the new words are being stored somewhere since those are being recognized without being added to LocalDictionary.
