logic pro ipad solo turns off in record - bug?

  1. Multiple tracks, some tracks with solo on.
  2. Select track with region already recorded bar 1-4.
  3. Set loop region to bars 5 to 8.
  4. Set track with record and solo on.

When record button pressed to record into current track (or play pressed), solo turns off during lead in to new record region.

If loop region is stretched back to bar 1, solo stays on on that track. If loop start is moved back to the previous position (bar 5), solo comes off as soon as play is pressed.

If region for bar 1-4 is moved into another track, it behaves the same. It seems to have recorded some sort of solo automation into that region, but checking solo automation doesn’t show anything.

This is really annoying, as need to rush to set solo on during lead in then get hands back to the input device.

Seems like a bug, but does anyone know of a setting that might cause this behaviour?

I’m seeing similar issues elsewhere now: what seems to be happening is that automation is being recorded against a clip or region if a control is interacted with while in read mode, but cannot then be adjusted. The only way to do this is to clear all automation for the region.

This is, to me, a bug one way or the other: it really shouldn’t be recording control moves when in read mode, or if this is an undocumented “feature”, then it should be easier to adjust or remove what is written to automation.
