On my iMac OS14.5, using the latest Safari, links sometimes will not open. How do I fix this? Are things just slow...am I constantly supposed to shut down Safari and restart? I switched from firefox thinking Safari would be better but I guess not!

Avira and CleanMyMac both should be removed in my opinion. Feel free to click the search tab on the top of this screen and enter either of those app names into there and you will see the problems users have experienced.
The first step to removing either of these apps is to use any provided uninstaller. You may find that even with the uninstaller, the apps do not want you to fully remove their software. Follow up using EtreCheck to verify there are not files that are sill being launched in your LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons folders.

It looks like I have 5 files of Avira left & I don't have access to them it claims...how do I get rid of these? Then I will move on to removing CMM...appreciate your help!
I will do this later. I did get rid of the Clean my Mac and the EtreCheck only shows the Avira files now. This is kind of hard to believe that there are no CMM files anywhere left.... Thanks again!
I have tried several many times to start in safe mode but it is not working. Thanks for the simple instructions!
I used disc utility to repair and I still can't open in safe mode!
What happens when you try starting in Safe Mode?
It just opens normally, nothing happens any different. I check system info while holding the option key look for Boot mode & it says normal
If using an Intel Mac, are you holding the Shift key immediately after restarting and holding it until the screen asking for your password comes up?
Yes but I have Apple silicon no password comes up
or option to continue in safe mode, it just opens up normally
With Silicon, it does have to be Shut Down instead of restarted. Then the power button has to be held until the Loading Startup Options appear.

Not sure what I did different but I did get into safe mode but I could not find the files!
