I have faced an issue recently, whenever I try to resize or open split screen using the green window control button ( on the top left ), or even just hover over it, the app I tried to resize freezes.
I just hovered over it and the app froze

Troubleshooting Closing and Freezing Apps:
A. Force Quit All Apps:
Get to the Desktop, and then "Force Quit" all open apps. See my User Tip: [command+tab] Use it to Access your Mac when Something is Not Responding - User Tip
B. View Activity Monitor:
See what it taking the most out of the CPU, particularly one of these opened apps. To Find Out which on, use Activity Monitor
