Open Mail.app from the menu bar select Mail>Settings>Privacy disable all:

Protect Mail Activity

Hide IP address

Block all remote content

and compare your results

from 2022 maybe the image links in mail are no longer valid(?) This would be beyond your control.

I think they refer to incomplete ioading attachments. The blue box that appears with a question mark in place of an attachment in an email is either due to the message not completely downloading (which usually can be told by the Activity Window), or an attachment that wasn't properly loaded in the first place. There is a setting for always loading attachments. But for the life of me I can't find it in the preferences. I would only do so for email I trust has good attachments. Phishing emails can use attachments to bring bad files to the computer. Their odds of inflicting damage on Macs are slim, but not knowing the source of an attachment that plays as an executable file you may have bigger problems ahead.

Mail? AllI I see here is Safari

posting the hot link would be one way to check here for comparison, but you include no hotlink.

if I manually type in < https://www.bbqsmokermods.com/ >

I see right off there is an issue loading the CSS in Safari for this website....this would be a coding problem of some sort beyond your control.

For you missing images... all websites I can only assume(?) you do not say...

If it is isolated to this one example I would use what works if no resolve .

You can look at your Safari>Settings...make some changes
