Desktop icons and window problems

On my new iMac using Sonoma 14.4.1 every time I shut it down and then open it again, my hard auxiliary drive icon moves around and will not stay in one spot. Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Second when I open my hard drive the window opens in different spots each time. I want it to open in the same spot and size each time. Is there a fix for this?????

Or is Sonama just a problem child with bugs in it yet? My lap does not do these things. The hard drive always opens in the same spot and size each time.

To keep Desktop Icons where you place them.

Control (right) click on your desktop and select Sort By: None

The second one is harder to nail down.

1) Turn off all Spaces in Mission Control settings

2) Switch your Finder View to either Column or List.

3) Spend some more time training App and Finder windows.

To both of you, I have already set the desktop icons to NONE long time ago and it still does what it wants!! I just updated to 14.5 and it still does the same thing. Doing all the above stuff is very time consuming and frustrating to have to repeat doing all the sizing and placing of file windows over and over!!! My old Mac never did all this stuff so it should be possible on this new Mac. Or they have forgot to program it into Sonoma.
