Yes, technically it’s the same because they stated they’re the same for all models but then they provided a web link to the Apple website that states the current purchase of tips in a four pack is compatible with all models. It doesn’t state on the website, the Tips purchased seven years ago will also work on today’s models. I was just trying to add a clarification for other users who may read this and have the same question as me. I’m an engineer And understand that things can be reverse compatible and sold today for suitable use with things going back quite a few years but as you must know with Apple or any company, there will be things made years ago that will not work on the new products. In this case, they are interchangeable as the first respondent stated, but they didn’t state how that was known, having provided only a link to indicate in apples product detail information or description that these four tips for sale today work with any vintage of on any Apple pencil product.
Me, myself, I have an 2024 M4 iPad Pro and an original 2018 10 1/2 inch iPad Pro with the original Apple Pencil and recall that in the box came 1 or two extra tips.
So when I was looking online to have found this answer hit the the web link provided to say Tips bought for $20 today from Apple will work on all models including my original pencil of 7 yrs ago.
However it did not answer my question (and possibly the question of others) as to whether an Apple Pencil tip from an original pencil era would work fast forwarding to eight years to today’s Apple Pencil Pro.
While the first respondent said yes that tips are the same for all models it wasn’t clear if that was an inference made by them because they see a website through Apple that sells something today only specifically listing backwards compatibility.
My clarification was to confirm I phoned Apple, who stated :
-the first tip can be used on the latest pencil
-the latest tip can be used on the first pencil
-tips sold today will work on all pencils
It kind of covers all the bases with additional clarity and verbal confirmation from Apple representative beyond just assuming that a web link that only states backwards compatibility would also apply to forward compatibility. Because it doesn’t so explicitly on the website.
So hopefully that further clarifies my intention for supplementing the answer of the first respondent.
Well, to answer my own question for anyone else reading this I did call Apple sales and while at any time any company may misinform any customer I was told that the very first Apple Pencil tips are forward compatible all the way to the latest 2024 Apple Pencil Pro. The tips have not changed. They interchangeable across all units. Is not just the case that recently developed tips are backwards compatible. Said to be just one tip over the course of all the years of pencil generations. According to Apple sales. so hopefully for anyone reading this or interested it will be true that you can get those extra tips that came with an Apple Pencil on an earlier version and make use of them on a newer version if you still have them in the box.

Isn't that the same answer Phil0124 gave in May?
Hello, I’ve seen this too, but are you sure, for example, that the extra replacement tips that came with the first generation pencil can be used on the pencil Pro?
If anything about the tip internal design changed , newer tips may be backwards compatible, but is it known that original tips are forward compatible or that all tips are the same and have never changed and essentially there’s only been one tip used for all models.
I asked that because users who are reading this, including myself, maybe curious whether the spare tips coming with the first generation pencil they have never been used will in fact work on the latest pro model pencil. Thanks if you know. The literature from Apple does not clearly state that the sold tips are the same as the original tips only that if purchase now they will work on any device.
Thank you
You're welcome.
