Finding the creation date of a word document that was emailed to me

How do I find the date of creation for a word document that was emailed to me? When I download the attached word document from an email and open it, the date of creation shows up as the date I opened the attachment. It makes sense that my macbook pro hasn't seen the file before, but shouldn't the file have an internal record of when it was created? If so, how do I find that? Thank you very much, I really appreciate the Community's help.

—You can try from the Terminal.app copy and paste:

file

note the trailing blank space, now drag & drop your file onto the terminal window, use the enter\return key to proceed

see what it shows you.

alternative information (same procedure as above...) copy and paste:

mdls

—You can use Command i to open the information pane for some clues..
