There are only certain devices that get taken out of the house. I want Apple HomeKit to run an automation when nobody is home but because devices are at home it thinks people are in. Is there a way to only have specific devices included.
I’m suspecting that his watch does not continuously provide his location because it can’t connect to a network, especially a cellular network.
I’m unsure how this works for a child’s Apple Watch. My guess is that their watch should have a cellular plan so that their location can be updated in real time but I really don’t know. Can you see/locate your child at all times using Find My, especially if they are far from any Wi-Fi networks?
He has an iPad and Apple Watch SE, it uses the iPad for location and I can’t see how to switch it to the watch. If I deleted the iPad of find my would that work? But then I wouldn’t be able to locate it if I lost it.
You can specify which device defines your location. Open the Find My app on the device that you want to always indicate your position, tap the "Me" tab and tap "Use this [device] as My Location."
Thanks, I’ve checked my child’s Apple Watch, it doesn’t seem to have this feature. It’s present on my iPhone.

it has its own cellular plan with its own mobile number.
