Is it possible for an iPhone X to have 3 cameras lenses?

I think I got scammed: Is it possible for an iphone X to have 3 cameras lenses? I bought off Facebook marketplace. Guy said it was a 13 Pro. The Model Name is iphone x. The Model Number is MQAG2ZD/A. He had it in a iphone 13 pro box and I checked the serial number and the imei and they checked out clean, with a purchase date of 2022. But, a box is a box. When he showed up with the phone in the box, I went through all the phone functions, including zooming to 10x. The battery life was 100%. Everything worked that I could do on the phone without a sim card. The phone takes a physical sim card. The screen diagonally is 5-7/8", just a hair shorter than my iphone 11 for example. A screen saver for an iphone 11-12, etc. is a hair too long. Apple won't let me post the IMEI or the serial number, but they are both for an iphone x purchased in 2018. Both of those check out clean too. WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING?? HOEW COULD SOMEONE CIOMBINE AN X AND 13 PRO? Three lenses on an iphone X and why botherX

Two online lookup tools said that the serial number shown in your last thread – the one that got deleted while I was replying to it – was for a silver iPhone X with 256 GB of storage.

MacTracker indicates that the iPhone X only had two rear cameras. On the other hand, I do not see why a genuine, non-jail-broken iPhone 13 Pro would identify itself as an iPhone X. It seems more likely to be a clue indicating that the iPhone is an iPhone X, and that you were scammed, than anything else. (I am pretty sure that no scammer who had a clue would see a profit in making a genuine iPhone 13 Pro pretend to be a less valuable iPhone X!)

Have you tried taking pictures with the camera at various zoom settings? Perhaps the phone is an iPhone X which has had some "cosmetic surgery" done to attach a fake but realistic-looking "camera" to the back. A fake camera wouldn't actually be connected to the phone's circuitry, and so the Camera app would NOT give you the full range of THREE "optical" zoom stops (with digital zoom in-between) that you'd expect from a three-camera iPhone.

You say that the third camera doesn't work. Which is exactly what I would expect if this is really an iPhone X … and that third "camera" was a fake to help pull over a scam on a buyer.

I don't think it would take a lot of work to glue a lens housing onto an iPhone X to try to make it look like a more valuable iPhone with three cameras. Just a bit of skill and a lot of dishonesty. Actually getting a third camera going would be a lot more work as it would have to be hooked up to the insides of the iPhone.

A scammer wouldn't have to do any work to make an iPhone X continue to take photos and videos with the rear cameras that Apple installed at the factory. Those cameras would be real, and already hooked up. A scammer would be hoping that their victim did not notice that the third "camera" was a fake until the scammer had gotten away with the victim's money, and it was too late for the victim to get it back …

Thanks for responding and checking that serial number from the camera which I should have done before I pad the guy. I have his phone number and his Facebook ad in screenshots and a video he sent me of the camera as well. I did just take you advice and only the camera on the upper camera is actually functioning ( I did the cover the lenses with a finger test ). I get a 10x zoom on it however-more than I get on my 11 for sure. But the quality isn’t as good. Video and flash all work too, including slow-mo etc. so it takes pics and videos. So it would appear someone has gone through a lot of trouble to make a phone or cobble together a phone that functions and looks like a 3 lense iPhone pro of some sort, but is really an X with a back that has a camera and flash that work and take pictures but is not completely operable as 3 lens camera. The other odd thing was when I got it took right to the apple store here and had them take the chip from my iPhone 12 and put it in this. Then upgraded the software for me too. They genius tech noted that the software it was running was a beta version and he asked me if I was a beta tester? He then just upgraded it to 16.7.8. He never noticed it was an X. I paid $340.00 for it which as an iPhone X with 256gb and a new battery would be likely $200 too much. Any other thoughts anyone has would be welcome. What would anyone bother to go through all he work I presume it is to make an X look like a pro and still take pics and videos etc?
