Facebook opens to split page and will no go to full page on my iPad

This is Meta’s doing. That is all the Meta/Facebook page. Not 2 pages in the iPad open. The side you wrote on is still Facebook (notice is wants you to turn chat on and also shows someone’s birthday…and recent active groups). Also notice that is still Facebook because in the top right corner you can see the Messenger icon and the badge showing you have 2 messages apparently as well as the Facebook search bar.

This is not an iPad or Apple issue but the way Meta currently has the Facebook app perform. This is why if you click the 3 dots for the iPad to choose Full Screen/Split/Slide it doesn’t do anything because it’s already (the iPad screen) in Full Screen mode. You would have to report your thoughts on this to Meta/Facebook as they would be the ones to make changes in future updates of the app if they decide to.

Which app is this? Safari? Or some Meta app? Do other multi-tasking apps work?

If this is only happening with one model and you’ve force-restarted it, it may well be a bug in iPadOS 17.5 or 17.5.1.

It’s solely an app thing. Think it happened on the update Meta released last week. Another update was yesterday.

When you say split page are you referring to the iPads option to split the screen and have another different page open simultaneously on the split screen? Or are you referring to the way the Facebook will change the view if you use your iPad in landscape versus portrait mode? I ask only because I had someone thinking this was a bug yesterday when I saw them and had described it in a way that it sounded like the split screen feature for the iPad but was actually the latter….which isn’t a bug.

IG doesn’t open full page on the iPad although you can expand it to where it shows closer to full page. The app was never optimized for iPad and simply just works on iPad (meaning Meta never made a true “for iPad” version so it’s just the one they optimize for iPhone.
