MacBook Pro connecting to sceptre monitor

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (system Sonoma 14.5) to my sceptre E205W monitor. I have the j5 create port and have the hdmi cables connected. Everything is plugged in. My MacBook won't even show the monitor as an option. It'll recognize my iPad and will flow with that.

My sceptre won't even let me change the input setting. It'll turn on, show the logo then say going back to sleep mode.

Is there something I need to do on my MacBook to get it recognized? I was able to do it before with the pro, sceptre monitor and another monitor but now it is not working.

Which model MacBook Pro, by model-year and processor type {plain, PRO, Max}

j5create docks are DisplayLink-type device or equivalent. Unless you deliberately want your display data garbaged up, leave it out of the loop to debug.

display info:

  • 1600 x 900 HD+ Resolution
  • Up to 75Hz Refresh Rate
  • 2 x HDMI Ports & 1 VGA Port

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"Premium High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" --OR--

"Ultra High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G"

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

HDMI was invented for HD TV sets. it works great at its original resolution of 720i or 720p. At higher resolutions, it quickly develops issues that are complex to solve, and the cables and adapters required to solve are NOT intuitive.
