Hey there!
When you uninstall the Chrome app, certain files from the app are left behind in Application Support. It's likely that these previous Application Support files may be causing issues with your Chrome installation.
See if these steps fix the issue you're seeing:
Step 1: Use the Finder to delete the Chrome app
1- If the app is currently open, quit the app before continuing.
2- Switch to the Finder, such as by clicking your desktop or clicking the Finder icon in the Dock.
3- Find the app that you want to delete, then click to select it. Most apps are in your Applications folder, which you can open by clicking Applications in the sidebar of any Finder window. Or choose Go > Applications from the menu bar in the Finder. Or use Spotlight find and show the location of the app.
4- Use any of these ways to move the app to the Trash:
- Drag the app to the Trash.
- Select the app and choose File > Move to Trash from the menu bar.
- Select the app and press Command-Delete on your keyboard.
5- If you're asked for a user name and password, enter the name and password of an administrator account on your Mac. This is usually the name and password you use to log in to your Mac.
6- To delete the app after moving it to the Trash, choose Finder > Empty Trash from the menu bar.
Step 2: Delete the Chrome Application Support Folder
1- Switch to the Finder, such as by clicking your desktop or clicking the Finder icon in the Dock.
2- Choose Go > Go to Folder in the top menu bar.
3- Enter the following:
~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome
4- Click Go.
5- Select all the folders, and move them to the Trash.
Step 3: Reinstall Chrome on your Mac
1- Visit the Chrome website, and choose the option to download Chrome.
2- Open the file called "googlechrome.dmg."
3- In the window that opens, find Chrome Chrome.
4- Drag Chrome to the Applications folder.
Hope this helps!
