iCloud account highjacked

Received an email from my iCloud email of someone threatening me. He claimed that he had high jacked my phone and has recording of me of a sensitive nature and that if I didn't send him a large sum of money to an account he provided within 48 hours he would send the above mentioned videos to all my contacts. Is this a real scam?
