MacBook Pro 14'' M2 Max - Default Operating System?

Hello

I want to buy a M2 Max MacBook Pro for the recording studio that I work in but it has become a bit of an issue

Since we use a lot of third party software in our work it is key that all the software we use will run on this machine.

I've checked all the software we use for compatibility

  • All of it is compatible with MacOS Ventura
  • Around 10-15% is not compatible with MacOS Sonoma

The staff at my local reseller cannot tell me wether this MacBook will come with Ventura or Sonoma and whether or not I'll be able to downgrade it if needed.

Since it's vital that this MacBook runs Ventura and not Sonoma what can I do?

How can I be sure which OS will be installed on it?

Kind regards

So after talking for 40 minutes with apple's customer, product and technical support they weren't able to tell me whether the MacBook would come with Ventura or Sonoma.

If it had been manufactured before Sonoma it would come with Ventura. If it had been manufactured after Sonoma it would ship with Sonoma and downgrading to Ventura would not be possible.

They advised me to get the serial number from the MacBook box in the store

After doing that and calling them back they were able to check the serial number of figure out the date of manufacturing which was before Sonoma was released

Yesterday I bought the MacBook and indeed it came with Ventura

Many thanks to the Apple Support team!

You can not down grade and further than what the Mac shipped with from the factory.
