I use screenshots a lot. Mysteriously, my Mac stopped giving me the little screenshot notification in the lower / bottom right hand corner of my screen.
The solution I found was this:

Furthermore, after clicking CMD+SHIFT+5, make sure that "Show floating thumbnail" is on

CMD+SHIFT• 5
Click on • Options
Change the Timer setting from None to either 5 seconds or • 10 seconds
make changes
Shift Command 5 make changes to suit your needs
