Finder wants password to create new folder on external drives.

Hello,

Since upgrading to Sonoma 14.5, every time I want to create a new folder on an external drive I get a pop up window indicating that Finder needs my password to create the new folder. This only happens when the folder is being created in the main directory. If I open a current folder already on the drive and try to make a new folder, I don't get the pop up window asking for my password. This happens to every external drive. Permissions on the drives are System Read & Write, Wheel Read & Write, Everyone Read only.

Any ideas how to fix this would be greatly appreciate! I've tried First Aid with the Disk Utility. It come back everything passed, but still get the pop up when trying to make a new folder in the main directory.

Using Sonoma 14.5 on a iMac 27in 1TB HDD, 64GB Ram, 3.7 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5, Radeon Pro 580X 8GB.

Thanks,

Dennis
