Playlists missing when syncing iMac > iPad

My brand-new 24" iMac has just arrived & been set up (migrated from 27") successfully.

My iTunes / Music Library is on an external drive.

My iPad Pro is running iPadOS 17.4.1.

All the music in my iMac Playlists is on the iPad Pro. But NOT all the Playlists themselves.

TBC: there are no songs missing. I can play all the songs. But I can't play all the Playlists, because they don't appear on the iPad, even though they do appear on the iMac.

I've tried multiple restarts of both devices, & of course multiple attempts at syncing.

Why won't all the Playlists sync, even though their songs do?

(P.S.: it appears to be very recent Playlists that are missing — although goodness knows what difference that makes!)

So… apparently, in the Sidebar of the Music App, if you can see your iOS device connected & you can see your "missing" Playlist in the same view, you can drag the Playlist onto the device.

This can take ages, which at first had me worrying that all the songs were being duplicated, but it turns out that it takes about as long to check to see if the song is present already as it does to upload it.

All you have to do, then, is check through your hundreds & hundreds of Playlists to work out which ones are missing, & then drag them one at a time…
