Could Not Enable Express Mode

I have had a Schlage Encode Plus that I have been using for 2 years now with Express Mode to unlock it with my Apple Watch. A few days ago Express Mode to unlock with my watch was disabled (not by me). Trying to enabled it in the Watch app on my iPhone results in the attached error which reads "Could Not Enable Express Mode - An error occured while enabling Express Mode for "Home"." The watch shakes a bit when it fails to do this but does not bring anything up. The watch is of course on me and unlocked.

Attempting to enable it via the Wallet app on my watch results in one of two options: a) it swaps to on but the setting doesn't stick and I go back and it has been disabled or b) the little toggle icon turns into a spinner that never stops until I exit the app.

My home has 3 Apple TVs (1 is a 4k) and 4 HomePods (2 originals, 2 minis). This morning I updated all to the latest versions. My iPhone and my Watch are also on the latest versions. I turned my iPhone and my Watch off and back on. Nothing works and I cannot enable Express Mode to unlock my lock.

My watch is set to unlock via my iPhone with Face ID if that matters.
