Can I change the Browsers background from white to grey?

I am using a A Mac OS Ventura 13.6.7

I'm currently running macOS Sonoma, but I believe the following steps should still work with Ventura.


  1. Open Safari.
  2. Start with a new blank webpage.
  3. Go to the bottom right-hand corner where you should find the Settings icon (three horizontal slider bars). (see image below)
  4. Click on the "blank" background. The one with the "+" sign on it. This should open the Desktop Pictures folder. (see image below)
  5. Move the the list until you find the Solid Colors subfolder. (see image below)
  6. There should be, at least, two gray choices. Pick the one you want to set it as the new Safari window background. (see image below)
