Hi,

I've noticed the same issue on my iPhone 13 Pro as well. After updating to iOS 17.5.1, the display started flickering, most noticeably on the left side of the screen. This problem began immediately following the update.

Just another update: After 2 hours of flickering, the phone display went all green with horizontal lines. After talking to an authorised Apple service centre, I came to know this is happening on almost all iPhone 13 series and few of the 14 series when we update to any version after iOS 17. The Apple centre replaced the display for free under one condition that THERE SHOULD BE NO EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL DAMAGE. Fortunately I didn’t have damage, so my display was replaced within 2 days and there was no data loss.

P.S My phone was out of coverage of warranty.

Dear Apple,

I’ve purchased an IPhone 13 Pro Max and before the warranty ended my experienced a white screen of death after I updated it. No physical damages happened. Luckily I paid nothing because of the warranty. But right now, the same phone, a green screen of death happened after the iOS 17.5.1 update. I hope you will atleast replace the screen free of charge. It is too expensive to buy a new screen.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution! Please look in the right direction.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Same, I've been experiencing screen flickering when waking my iPhone 13 Pro from sleep, causing discomfort to my eyes and brain. The issue started about a month after updating to iOS 17.5.1. Initially, turning off the double-click side button for the Wallet app resolved the issue, but it has since returned. I found a temporary solution: the screen flickers if I look at it immediately upon waking, but not if I look at it a little later before unlocking. Hope this helps anyone facing the same problem.

I bought my phone from the apple store in California over two years ago then brought it with me when I retired to the Philippines. I had not experienced any issues with my Max Pro 13 until the screen started flashing white a few weeks ago. I installed the update thinking maybe it would solve the problem but now I have a totally white screen so the problem is worse since the phone is unusable. I have restored to factory settings via iTunes and confirmed that the ios version is 17.5.1 I did not restore data or apps to reduce variables. The local apple store said there is nothing they can do. If I had purchased the phone from them and if it had a warranty issue then they could mail it to Manila for potential repairs with a 90 day wait time. I spoke to a 3rd party vendor and he said he could replace the screen for $330 USD but that was not a guarantee that it would solve the problem and he was very reluctant to try it. For now I'm stuck waiting to see if this gets addressed in a new update.

im also facing this issue. I am also on iOS 17.5.1 . I’m not sure when it started but I only noticed it about a week ago . On max brightness the flickering is less noticeable. But when I view same thing on my older iPhone 11 Pro Max it’s obvious the screen is greenish . I’ve contacted Apple support they suggest I update to iOS 18 , I updated to iOS 17.7 but the flickering did not go away . Anyone here has managed to find a solution without needing to replace the screen ?

I was told it would cost sgd $905 by apple support to replace screen which I really don’t want to , at that price I rather buy the new iPhone .
