Since updating to Sonoma 14.4.2 I can no longer import cd's in the Music app. I get the error 54. Other suggestions on the issue on the forum haven't solved the issue. Removable volumes in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders is enabled. The external drive is not locked.
I've had no issues before the update and Sonoma 14.5 didn't solve the issue either.

Sorry, I read too fast. Turn the setting off, reboot the Mac, open Music, insert a CD and see if you are prompted to authorize removable devices. If not, turn the setting back on and see if you can import.
Didn't work. However I found out that I wasn't even able to play existing music from my library. It led me to this discussion, where I tried out lordpixel's solution, which worked out for me: Apple Music won't play songs from library… - Apple Community
Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders > Music and make sure “Removable Volumes” is turned on.
As I described, it IS turned on. I still get the error message.
