7th Generation Ipod Classic not opening in Itunes. Think I've enabled disk mode but can't sort it out

I have a 'new' ipod classic. I plugged it into my Window's laptop and it all seemed ok, it opened and started the 'new ipod' set up. I think I clicked around on too many things as I was trying to get it to sync and did uncheck 'manually add music to ipod' and also checked 'enable disk mode'


Now, the ipod won't register on itunes at all. It keeps opening up as a file explorer window, but I have turned off auto play there.


The issue is I can't get back into the ipod summary on itunes to uncheck 'enable disk mode'. I've tried updating the drivers but it's not helped. I've read every other help page about similar issues but nothing is helping at all.


Is there anything I can do?
