Trimming an iMovie Project (NOT in Events)

WHY is the option "Trim Selection" not showing? I have a Project open - it is not in Events. I cannot get the correct option. My MacBook is a 2023 model, all should be well. What the heck? "Split Clip," etc. are all I see. I expect your apps to work correctly for how expensive your products are, Apple. Do better!

Real options? "Trim Selection" appears rarely. I'm about to give up on iMovie. Better products?

This is a user to user forum. There's no one from Apple here.

There is no "Trim Selection" option in iMovie. To trim a clip put it in the timeline, place your cursor on the left or right edge until the cursor morphs. Then, while pressing down on your track pad or mouse drag the edge to trim the clip.
