How to import music from cd to my iphone or MacBook

I used to import my music collection from Cds to iTunes.

unfortunately apple music has taken over.

Question:

How can I get music from my cds to iPhone or MacBook air so that i don't have to keep cds any more!

On Catalina and later, you would use the Music application to import the music, and Finder to load the music onto your iPhone/iPad/iPod.


I would suggest keeping the CDs, even if most of the time when you play the music, you play the imported copies. CDs do not use lossy compression (of the MP3 or AAC sort), and serve double-duty as hardcopy backups.
