Printer not available via Air Print on Mac (Sonoma)

All other devices in our home can print to this printer via air print. My previous MacBook Air could also print to it via air print. However, on my new MacBook Air 15" 2024 (Sonoma 14.5), there is no air print option, not even in the "use" field when adding printers. What can I do to be able to use air print? For now I've installed the driver, but still want air print available. (This HP printer is finicky. It will often refuse to print for no reason, claiming file corruption. In those instances, I can switch to air print and it will work. So I must have air print.)
