Brand new 6th Gen iPad mini

I have just received my new 6th Gen iPad mini, have logged in to my iCloud account on it, it has the whirl symbol and has been like this for 3.5 hours with no change! Is this normal?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 17

As described, something has stalled - perhaps due to an interrupted WiFi or internet connection.

If the issue persists for several hours, connect your iPad to its Power Adapter and perform a forced restart:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

After restart, you would be well advised to keep your iPad connected to its Power Adapter while you complete initial setup - as doing so will keep the WiFi radio active during the process.
