This si a better option as it is not possible, as mentioned before, to merge Apple IDs

I agree with WheelieNick here. Try to recover the password. Creating a new one will cause all sorts of problems. Everything you’ve purchased under the original Apple ID is forever tied to that. It can’t be transferred to another Apple ID.
Can you give a little more information? It sounds like you've created and are now using a new Apple ID but want the data from your old one. There's no way to "merge" Apple IDs. But there is a way you can download some data to a PC or Mac from iCloud.com.
