Syncing Contacts from MacBook to iPhone 15

Contacts written on my iPhone synchronize to my MacBook OK. However, Contacts written in my MacBook do not sync to the Iphone. Have checked and rechecked setting in iCloud to no avail. I would be grateful for assistance.
