Mysterious indentation on the sides of US iPhones

I noticed a mysterious indentation on US region iPhones. I was told that it was used for faster 5G signals. However, iPhones sold in other regions don't have this, so does it mean that the iPhones sold in other countries have slower 5G?

mm wave is a failed technology that no carrier outside of Verizon in the US tried to implement.

It has very short range, each “tower” has a range of a few hundred feet. It is easily blocked by buildings, rain, leaves on trees.

It requires the carrier to blanket an area with transmitters for outside reception and the installation of multiple transmitters inside a building for reception.

Do a Google search for mm wave in New York.

You will find articles about how the reporter could only get reception on a single street corner and only if he held his phone in a specific area.
