Seems you may have picked up a redirect, see if this helps...

  1. Open Safari on your Mac.
  2. Click the Safari tab in the top menu and choose ‘Settings.’
  3. Navigate to the ‘Search’ tab.
  4. Open the Search Engine drop-down menu and choose which search engine you want to use within the Safari browser.
  5. You should now see your chosen search engine when you go to Safari.

Another method:

  1. Open Safari on your Mac.
  2. Clear all text out of the search bar and tap the magnifying glass.
  3. Choose a search engine from the drop-down menu.
  4. Resume your searches as normal.
