Extract photo from video - without the screen-grab hack

With the latest OS on an iPad (OS 17.4.1, 2024) isn’t there a more native way (a feature within video editing) of extracting a photo from a video? Of course, you can screen-grab a frame from the video and save it as a photo, but is the resulting photo quality the same as you would get if Apple came up with a feature, not a hack, to save a frame as a photo?
