Apple Pencil 2 Won’t Connect (2024)

I’m using an Apple Pencil 2. gen with and iPad Air (5th gen). Both were purchased in November 2022.

The iPad is running OS 17.5.1.

For the past month or so (previous OS update included) the pencil started to lose connection, occasionally failing to show a charge icon, and only showing a gray oval naming the Apple Pencil.

I tried reconnecting many times in many ways including:

• check pencil tip for tightness
• replace pencil tip
• use only Apple Original parts
• hard reset
• toggle Bluetooth in different forms
• update software

The only result has been that now I can only get the pencil to show a spinning Apple Pencil graphic (see photo).

I have seen similar posts on this forum, but none resolved. Would appreciate any tips.
