18Gb or 36 Gb for mobile app development

Seeking Advice for new MacBook Pro,

I’m an aspirant iOS developer, would like to purchase a MacBook Pro m3 model.

I’m bit confused about the ram, default ram is 18Gb and not sure if I have bump to 36gb ram.

Considering the future, is 36gb ram overkill?

Model- MacBook Pro M3 PRO CHIP 14Inch

Purpose- Mobile App development

Can someone advise me on this?

Thanks

Xcode will not be shrinking in size or resource thirst. For that reason, I would recommend 36 GB RAM to allow for future growth. Same for the storage. Spring for the 1 TB storage option and get a 2 TB external SSD for Time Machine backups. I use Crucial X-series SSD for the backups.

Think about a 27 or 32-inch external quality display so you have screen room for development tools. Existing 27-in iMacs are unsupported for that purpose.
