Client is using my video for training. Therefore, wants the video to force-pause at each of the chapters I've created. I've made and labelled my chapter markers - but now I"m unsure how to 'force' the video to automatically stop, and then have the user hit 'next' to keep playing when they're ready. Do I need a separate encoder/compressor, or is there a setting that I'm missing within FCPX? Thanks all
There is no such thing as force pause in a video.
The user would have to pause the video himself. You could add a freeze frame for a few seconds but I am not sure if that would help.
Perhaps you’d better split into separate videos, one per chapter. You could program a little web page with buttons to move to next video. Or perhaps set them as a playlist in YouTube or something similar.
Anyway, I think the client has no idea how much more complicated this is vs him just hitting the space bar to pause the video…

In DVD Studio Pro we could do it. But for now, I agree, I'd say make each chapter a separate video, and he can open them all in QT Player, in reverse order, and when one is done, Cmd+W to close it and there's the next waiting for him.
I’ve never tried it but it should be possible to put each chapter as a separate file/slide in a keynote or PowerPoint presentation? I would think most sales reps would be familiar with that at least!
Thanks Ben and Luis, appreciate your responses. I agree, the end users don't get how difficult it is. I told them chapter markers are the easy part but said I'd look into the force pause. Unfortunately its about 80 different sales reps at 30 different sites that are using this video, so I really don't trust them with multiple videos opening in the correct order! :)
