Inaccurate calculation of Mac Storage

Since I last checked a couple weeks ago, my storage has gone from 1TB free space to entirely filled up. I believe I have changed nothing and that my mac is calculating my storage inaccurately (see screenshots). Most notably, I only have 2TB of storage but the calculation breakdown suggests I have used over 2.5TB? Additionally, I have checked the total size of the application files and application support files which should be 1.49TB according to the Mac's calculations, but it is only 73.66GB. What's happened?

I have tried restarting and updating the software but even after that the issue persists.

Rebuild your spotlight index and check again also, get info on the startup drive in Finder and see what those numbers say.

Any of the storage displays are using spotlight data to group things into those categories. The applications categories includes not only the applications themselves, but also, the data created by the application.
