Could my MacBook Air be compromised?

Can some one please tell me what this is? I also am unable to open the zip files I found on a hard drive.

Just noticed your second question regarding not being able to open .zip files. Where are these files located and how did you acquire or create them?

Have you ever been able to open these .zip files?

Is it all .zip files or just certain ones?

Try restarting the computer since macOS & the Finder can sometimes get stuck.

Try booting into Safe Mode to see if you can open those .zip files, if this works, then you have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS.

What happens when you attempt to open them?

FYI, most macOS system logs these days are utterly worthless for troubleshooting since they contain so much repeating junk & non-sense. There are a lot of cryptic & scary sounding log entries as well. The only useful log these days are the Kernel Panic logs which can sometimes help identify the source of a system crash, but even these logs are becoming more difficult to read & interpret. If you value your sanity, then avoid the macOS logs at all costs....this is something I learned the hard way. If you are experiencing an actual issue with the computer, then create a thread about the issue so that other contributors can offer suggestions for troubleshooting (usually involves posting an EtreCheck report and running the Apple Diagnostics).
