I have an iMac from mid 2011. It is running high sierra. I have full internet signal. The capacity is almost full.
I can’t get onto the internet? It just gets stuck.

Once you have at least 30GB of free Space...
Mostly you just need a more modern Browser than Safari on Catalina, Mojave, or High Sierra like Firefox or Brave.

Just gets stuck where exactly?
When you open a web browser?
When you try to connect to a Wi-Fi network?
When you use an App?
Please explain exactly where its getting stuck.
If its very very full, you will need to delete some stuff or move it out an external storage device to make room, it would only prevent internet access if its 100% full and cannot download anything which would prevent it from even opening a website.
You need to explain your issue in as much detail as possible, including the app or location its getting stuck in and what exactly you are doing when it gets stuck.
When I put this issue on I could not access the internet at all using safari. Safari would not open a start up page.
Since then it has been able access internet and get to websites but now uploading to a site is very very slow. Well it hasn’t been possible.
I think you might be right about the memory issue as I’ve started to delete a lot of duplicates and it helped a bit. I got internet access after that. I’ll keep deleting the crap I’ve got and see what happens.
