How to quickly enable and disable midi instruments while live performing with Logic Pro

Hi! I'm a keyboardist and I would like to use Logic Pro sounds while playing live, not having anything pre-recorded. Specifically, I would like to be able to quickly enable and disable the virtual instruments (e.g changing from a synth bass to bells) without having to reach to my Mac (and even more, to the trackpad) as the movement of muting and unmuting tracks can be clumsy and not even close to the agility needed to play live. The way I was thinking of doing this was to use a MIDI CC signal to mute and unmute tracks (actually, what I would prefer most would be a signal to toggle the "record enable" button, but maybe that would be even harder), but that doesn't seem to be working out well. Is there any better way to do this?

To summarize: main objective = enable and disable tracks quickly while playing.

My Logic Pro X version is 10.5.1 (can't update; my mac is old)

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

You could buy an inexpensive keyboard with pads and transport controls that would allow you to do some simple things in the Daw. Like stop, start, record. But also solo a certain track or tracks. I have a Novation Launchkey 25 that has those features. It does give you the option to solo up to 8 tracks. The only thing is that there can't be any effect trail on the first track when switching to the next one because it will get cut off.
