Password to passcode

My iPhone 11 died and I just got an iPhone 15 pro. To finish set up they ask for my passcode - but I had a password. I can’t use the old phone at all. How can I translate a password with numbers and letters to the passcode that is showing only as numbers?

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

Are you restoring a backup of your old iPhone? This as there is no means to directly transfer from a failed device.

Here is how to: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

That should ask for your Apple ID password for iCloud backup restorations, or for whatever password was used to encrypt a local Mac or PC backup if the local backup was encrypted.

If you’re getting prompted for a new passcode, you can select a longer passcode or a password using the controls shown below the passcode setup prompt.

A Passcode is used to unlock the device when you turn it on. A Passcode can be numeric or alphanumeric.

The screen unlock passcode which can be 4 digits, 6 digits, Custom

length numeric, or a custom length alphanumeric passcode is still

called a passcode, not a password.

If its asking for a numeric only passcode, it means you had a numeric only passcode on the other device to unlock your device. If you had an custom alphanumeric passcode to unlock your device, then it should have provided a full keyboard to enter it.

Your Apple ID password or login password for your email is not what is being asked for.

Is it maybe asking you to create a passcode?
