Ibooks - is there any way that it will just sync on it's own? What's the point of this fancy machine if it can't sync a pdf?

I guess iPads are just for drawing pretty pictures? Because that seems to be the only thing I find enjoyable about my new iPad. I got it for school and realized that I have to download a school pdf, I get several for each class, to both my computer and my iPad, separately. I didn't even doubt that I couldn't because it seems intuitive. Somehow my mail has been doing it for eons. Not a fan of technology, who is selling those "dumb" phones?
