How to fix slow typing issue in Word Document

I am working on a document on Microsoft word and the typing is very slow, it is about 3 seconds behind every letter. The mouse is about the same.

if it was me then I would try to restart the computer

and if it was still an issue then I would check if I was running out of storage or system memory

or if some other app was using a lot of cpu % in the Activity Monitor

Please confirm which version you are using. There is a known performance issue on Microsoft Word 16.84 and 16.85.

Microsoft released a new update on May 27th, but you will need to change the AutoUpdate channel mode.

This will allow AutoUpdate to install the 16.85.2, which fixes the slowness and spinning ball of Word Excel.
