Do I need to pay Royalties if I make money off a song with purchased Instrumentals?

Hi everyone!

I’m a vocal artist who needs to purchase instrumentals because others are way more musically gifted than myself. I was thinking of purchasing one in the Apple Music store but I’m not sure how the licensing works.

Ie: if I purchase the instrumental and make money off the song, will I still need to pay royalties to the creator? I know I won’t “own” the instrumental - others can buy and use it same as me - but I don’t want to steal from someone. Plus, if it somehow gets heard by the creator I don’t want any legal issues costing 100x anything I might make.

Additionally, it’s also a spin off another instrumental (7 minute drill by J Cole) so 🤦🏼‍♂️ there isn’t a Google search to help me figure this inception out.

In the case it might cost me royalties, I was thinking of reaching out to the creators to negotiate a deal where it wouldn’t be an issue - not sure if anyone has gone that route?

Alright, that’s about it (feel free to add in things I might be missing here) - thank you all so much 🙏 in advance!
