How can I take a scrolling screenshot on Macbook

I'm trying to take a scrolling screenshot on my MacBook but I'm running into issues. Normally, I can take regular screenshots using the built-in shortcuts, but there doesn’t seem to be a straightforward method for capturing content that extends beyond the visible screen area, like a long webpage or a document. I'm looking for a way to capture everything in a single image without having to manually stitch multiple screenshots together. Does anyone know of any tools or methods that could help me achieve this on a MacBook? I’d appreciate any advice on this matter, as it would greatly streamline my workflow.

For taking scrolling screenshots on a Mac, you can use the "GoFullPage" extension in Chrome browser. It is a highly effective Google Chrome extension designed for capturing scrolling screenshots on a Mac. This tool is perfect for users who need to capture entire web pages without missing any content hidden below the fold. With GoFullPage, you can effortlessly capture full-page screenshots.

After installing the extension from the Chrome Web Store, capturing a scrolling screenshot is just a click away. Simply navigate to the desired webpage, click the GoFullPage icon in the Chrome toolbar, and let the extension automatically scroll through the page, capturing everything in its path. The final screenshot is then presented in a new tab, where it can be easily downloaded as a PNG or PDF file. This simplicity and efficiency make GoFullPage an essential tool for Mac users needing comprehensive web captures.

An alternative way without third-party screenshot app is to export the long webpage into a PDF file using any of the modern browser like Safari or Chrome. Once you get the PDF files that contains all the scrolling pages, then you can open the preview app and convert the PDF to jpg or png. This is an indirect solution to take scrolling screenshot on Mac. However, editing is not available in this approach.

I wish I could understand why this cannot be done.

If I select-click and hold, and then drag all the way to the bottom of a page, the text and objects on that page will highlight, and will continue to select, scrolling down, down, down until I stop. I can then copy-paste if desired etc.

Why can't a screen capture function in the same manner?

Why can't I activate "Capture Selection" and then just scroll the selection until I stop and release the command to capture the entire area I have scrolled to? (ie, "below the fold")

Seems so simple.

So frustrating.
